Axiom Microdevices, provider of the world’s first and only fully integrated CMOS power amplifier for GSM/GPRS mobile handsets, seeks a systems application engineer. This role will center around the pre- and post- sales support of our customers, who will be using our highly integrated RF ICs in the cellular phone industry. Initially the role will be based around the GSM application, but may expand into further markets in the future. The candidate would play a key role in providing input for future product generations.

• Extensive experience (at least 5 years) as a system design engineer for the radio section of GSM mobile phones
• Should have completed some handset designs, or have worked within a semiconductor manufacturer in a similar role
• Experience focused on the implementation of the front-end of the transmit section of the radio, that is, the PA and PA control loop, and interface with the switch and other front end portions
• Experienced in the RF design and hands-on debug of radio sections
• Understand the dynamics of customer interaction (not necessarily a sales oriented role, but will frequently find herself/himself in delicate situations, and should be willing to learn how to react, if s/he has had no customer experience in the past)
• Be at home in a well-equipped RF test laboratory, and be familiar with all general and GSM specific RF test methodologies
• In-depth knowledge of the GSM radio specification
• Strong understanding of the RX, TX and LO sections of the GSM radio
• Strong knowledge of front-end active and passive circuits
• BSEE or equivalent

• Previous customer interaction.

• Knowledge of cellular phone systems
