Axiom Microdevices, provider of the world’s first and only fully integrated CMOS power amplifier for GSM/GPRS mobile handsets, seeks an RF systems engineer. This role will center around the system definition and evaluation of leading-edge, highly integrated RF ICs for the cellular phone industry. The role may be expandable to include a post-sales customer support function, should the candidate be interested and a personality fit for such a function.
Required Experience:
- Extensive experience (at least 5 years) as a system design engineer for the radio section of GSM and or WCDMA/UMTS mobile phones
- Should have completed several handset designs
- Should have focused on the implementation of the front end of the transmit section of the radio, that is, the PA and PA control loop, and interface with the switch and other front end portions
- Should be experienced in the RF design and hands-on debug of radio sections
- Should have worked as a key team member, not necessarily a manager or group leader, but should be ready and willing to step up to the challenge of increased project responsibility within a dynamic environment
- Should be at home in a well-equipped RF test laboratory, and be familiar with all general and GSM and or WCDMA/UMTS specific RF test methodologies
- Should have an in-depth knowledge of the GSM and or WCDMA/UMTS specification, in particular should be a guru in the radio section
- Should have a strong understanding of the RX and LO sections of the GSM and or
- WCDMA/UMTS radio
- Be able to generate mathematical models to describe RX and TX chain behavior, using such tools as mathcad, matlab and MS-Excel
- Strong knowledge of the power amplifier interface to adjacent circuitry
- BSEE or equivalent
